Traditional Art / Drawings / Landscapes & Scenery

These are going to be used for my version of "Wonderful Wizard of Oz" By L. Frank Baum. Called "Follow the Trail of Blood" which features my D&D Eladrin Cleric Ico. This is the 4th story in the series which i have given the name collectively as "Fey Tales" since Eladrin are a type of Fey in D&D.

Those familiar with the book and the film knows there is a scene where the cast come across a poppy field. And so i drew some poppies. It is likely i am going to use these as two separate images, but i submitted them together because i thought they would look less interesting on their own.

I have fully written the story. But it needs proof reading before i post it on here, since my English sucks. The story i am going to do is going to use images to split up the text so my friends on my gaming table are more likely to read it. I also like the idea of making it look like a childern's book even though it really, really isn't. For this one i am doing a mix of this style and the vector images i have been doing. I might do some full colour work too since it is going to be mixed any way.

They are lovely. They look like edge-of-the-page or chapter ending decorations. They are more detailed, but do remind me of the way that Denslow drew the poppies in the original illustrations. That's a very nice touch!

Oh it is kind of cool they remind you of the originals. I haven't actually seen those, so if you have a link that would be awesome.

I figured when i come to lay it out they are actually going to be 2 drawings. I figured the thinner image would go at the top of a page, with text under it. And the other i would put in a bottom corner with the text, or the side.

Oh thanks for that. It is a little surreal for me, because they are like the same style but not.

I did actually read Baum's story when i wrote my own version actually. But it wasn't an actual book it was a free version on line. But i will check out the rest of the pictures actually. They might give me some inspiration because i need to draw more things from the wizard of Oz for my own version.

I actually hadn't i looked at photo's and images like this -> [link] & [link] that i found on Google. But that link was made me wish i can have the original book it is so beautiful illustrated and is actually what i go for in my books actually because i like to make them look like childern's books even though they are really not.

Those are beautiful inspiration images and I can totally see how you used similar design elements from them!

Oh that is so cool, that is a US site. But at least i know the book exists in a modern print run. So i will have to look out because it is beautiful.
