11th November by Karla-Chan 11th November by Karla-Chan
Remembrance Day (also know as poppy day) is observed on 11 November to recall the end of hostilities of World War I on that date in 1918. Hostilities formally ended "at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month,"

This is my new doll Ophelia she is a Withdoll Priscilla in the grey skin and has a custom company face up. She has a much bigger chest then my other girls. So doesn't have as many clothes, so I decided to make her some. I made this poppy dress for her yesterday trying out a new pattern. I really like the poppy fabric and I thought today would be a good day to take photo's of it and post it online.

I love poppy flowers as you know, this look very great on her. The red and black goes with her eyes amazingly

Unfortunately the nearest place is an hour drive from here, $20 in gas each trip, so won't happen any time soon.

I see that is a shame, I can see how that would work out expensive. :) I wish you luck in the future, sometimes you can find good online guides. :)

One of these days. Too many things to do, and not enough time though. Maybe when I retire. I think I would enjoy it, if I ever got any good at it. I certainly have enough dolls to dress.

Ophelia looks lovely in that dress! And it's funny, the 11th of November is known as Veteran's Day in the US. :)

I heard that is was important to other countries as well for the same reason. Over here poppies are a symbol of hope linked to the wars. We also sell poppy badges to raise money to help look after injured soldiers and families who have lost loved ones in the battle filed.

Ah, that's cool! I didn't know that about poppies, and that's really cool about selling the badges. Over here the symbol for "supporting the troops" is a yellow ribbon.

Very true! I really like that there are different symbols that can remind people of things too- it can brighten an otherwise sad day sometimes. :)
